IOW 2008 - A tribute to The Bishop
Our visit to the Isle of Wight Rally in an Ecclesiastical setting. Any reference to person or persons living or dead is entirely coincidental..
From the book of Bishops Chapter 1 verses 1 to 40:
In the eighth month, the followers of Bishop G the Untidy didst go on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land across the sea,
where Bishop G wouldst bless the young ladies of the parish with his holy Baallls. But his lady wife spake unto him thus:
"Thou shalt not go to the promised land, for thou hast taken a wife and thou shalt come with me to Milan. Thou shalt not make merry with
the followers, neither shall thou spread the love. If thou dost not follow my commandments, thou shalt get none for the next six months."
And there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth. Bishop G didst comply with the commandments for to protect his Holy Baallls, and his followers
were cast down.
But they took comfort for now they would be delivered to the Holy Land in a shorter time, for without the Bishops mighty chariot, they would not need to stop
to replace the blessed gear cables and the sacred silencer.
And so it came to pass that the followers of The Bishop, led in his absence by Archdeacon Andrew, (for he was the top mod in Ponty), didst meet at the church of Park View to commence their Journey over the sea. They took with them a mascot, presented to Curate Craig to fly as a banner on their mission. And the mascot was the Holy Frog of Craziness. With the frog displayed for all to see, they didst travel with all haste to the ferry port. And the frog did indeed deliver them, for although the Archdeacon had no air in his tyres, they made it to the ferry without mishap.
In the promised land, they didst stay at the Monastery of Melville, where they were tended to by the Lady in blue, for she was a nun. And there was much rejoicing.
They made with all speed to the church of The Solvent, where they did drink and be merry with the locals, whilst spreading the good word. They didst play sports in the church grounds, where they did compete in the mighty Ryde Open Pool Championship. The Archdeacon didst compete against Lady Laura, for she was the good Lady of Deacon Davies, and he was unbeaten throughout the land at this time. But Lady Laura didst beat him with a few cheeky snookers, and he was cast down. And there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth. Also in the church grounds The Archdeacon didst bless Curate Craigs camera with a picture of his most private parts, for The Bishop is not the only one with Big Baallls.
In the nights they didst go to Hipshaker Cathedral, where they didst wear their finest garments, topped off with the sacred cravats, for it must be seen that the followers of The Bishop were the finest dressers in the land. And there was much dancing and merry making. And they didst go back to the monastery for to sleep and partake of the breakfast feast.
Thus the followers of Bishop G didst spend their weekend pilgrimage, spreading the good word amongst the good people of the parish. They didst spread the love to the ladies in the style of their glorious leader, for they didst enjoy lady love. They did not practice man love however, for that is for those who lead an existence that is casual . There is nothing casual about the blessed followers of Bishop G, who himself follows the teachings of the great Harry Monk.
On the fifth day, with a heavy heart, the pilgrims didst begin their long journey home back to the land of Ponty. But the chariot of Deacon Davies was possessed by a demon that didst extinguish all his lights, so they made haste to return home before darkness fell upon the land. And the deacon didst exorcise the demon in his garage at home that night, with insulating tape and a can of lager.
Archdeacon Andrew did report to The Bishop on his return, who was pleased. He didst undertake to return with us in the next year, on a new chariot, and his followers made a vow to return again to that place once more to spread the good word.
